Weight Loss Wednesday – Week 5

June 14, 2012 by racheljk Leave a Comment

Yeaaaa me!! I’m still going to the gym 5-6 days a week!  I’m feeling great and have a lot more energy.  I’m counting my calories and watching what I’m eating.  I’ll splurge every once in a while but my splurges are small and few and far between.

Are you too busy to plan out every meal?  Yea, it happens to me too sometimes.  Here are a few of on-the-go meals that I lean on when I’m out and about for the day:

Taco Bell – Fresco Taco (150 calories)
Fresco tacos omit the cheese and add the fresh tomato salsa.  I think this salsa has much more taste than cheese and is virtually calorie and fat free!  Yummy!

McDonald’s – Bacon Ranch Salad with grilled chicken and basalmic dressing (230 calories)
If you’re on a diet you probably know that fast food is not the best choice.  Thankfully, even McDonald’s has some healthier choices.  This salad is on the top of my favorite list.  At only 230 calories, it’s fast, flavorful and good for you!  Make sure to get your chicken grilled and skip the ranch dressing.  I always ask for low fat balsamic vinaigrette (40 calories) and it’s scrumptious!

Subway: Black Forest Ham on Wheat (280 calories)
Make sure you skip the cheese ( I just give it to my kids) and just say no to the full flavor dressings such as mayo.  If you must have something on your sandwich, Subway does have a few fat free dressings such as mustard or honey mustard that you may want to try.  Pile on those veggies for hardly any extra calories!
Since you can grab a footlong for just $5, buy one and save the other half for lunch the next day! If you do this, skip the dressing or get it on the side so it won’t get soggy.
So there are a few on my favorite on-the- foods.  What are yours?  I’d love a few more options!

Weight Loss Wednesday (Thursday) – Week 4

June 7, 2012 by racheljk Leave a Comment

Well I should of typed this up last night but I headed to the gym instead 🙂  That’s good, right?

I’ve been doing great on my weight-loss journey and my clothes are starting to get loose.  Good thing for me I have a closet full of clother in different sizes to pick from in my closet.  Anyone else have that?

Not only have I been eating good but I have also been heading to the gym 5-6 times a week.  I’m getting to the point that I’m feeling a little guilty when I take the day off.  I would of never guessed that!  I’m liking the pressure of not weighing in everyday too.

Here’s a recipe that my friend gave me (thanks Althea) for those nights my family wants pizza and I don’t want the extra calories! Here are your ingredients:  Fat Free Cheese (I also add a little real cheese), Turkey pepperoni minis, Mids Pizza sauce (only 20 calories, cheapest at Apples), and Flat Out bread.
Put your Flat Out in the over/toaster for 5 minutes on 350 degrees. Then take it out and add sauce, pepperoni, veggies, and cheese.  Cook again for about 5 minutes or until cheese is melted.  This is great for you who love thin crust pizza!  My husband even likes it.  I’m sure to add mushrooms next time though so I don’t have to share 🙂

Here’s how it looks done.  It’s so good, I started eating before I took a picture!

So how are all of you out there on your weight loss journey?  See you next week!

Weight Loss Wednesday – Week 3

May 31, 2012 by racheljk 3 Comments

Note: Yesterday was my anniversary so I’m a little late 🙂

I’ve thrown out my scale!  No really, I did!  I’ve become obsessed with numbers and am getting discouraged when I don’t see what I want to see.  Ugghhh!

I know logically that I shouldn’t weigh myself everyday and that as women our weight will fluctuate daily.  I also know all about the “muscle weighs more than fat” theory, but all that doesn’t seem to matter when you just want to lose weight!

The last thing I want to do is get discouraged so while I’ll continue to share my weekly weight loss journey, I’m only going to “weigh in” about every 3-4 weeks.  I won’t even know!

As for this past week, I did great!  My mom and I headed to the gym 5 times last week and we are on target for the same this week!  Woohoo!  I’m so proud of my mom for not only supporting me but for seeing her increase her own fitness goals.  Last week she decided to “try” out the eliptical and while she didn’t think she would even be on for 3 minutes she went for 10!  Now she stays on even longer.  It’s so nice to have a workout buddy!

My eating plan has been going well too.  Lots of fresh fruits and veggies from Aldi’s (they are usually cheapest there or you can price match at Walmart), grilled chicken, and salad.  I don’t feel deprived at all.  Next week I’ll show you some of the food I’ve been eating, I’ve been taking pictures (crazy, huh?)

So how’s your fitness goal coming along?  Do you weigh yourself too much? Have your thrown out your scale?  I’d love to hear from you!

Weight Loss Wednesday ~ Week 2

May 24, 2012 by racheljk 3 Comments

Whew!  What a week!

I started off good and hit the gym twice last week on Tuesday and Wednesday.  Then the trips began.  On Thursday, my mom and I took my two oldest boys to Kalahari.  While we had a lot of fun it was hard to pick healthy choices among a sea of unhealthy ones.  After Kalahari we were off to the drive-in and I got to sit between a tub of popcorn and a container of nachos and cheese.  Fabulous!

My husband and I spent the evening away in Pittsburgh and went to the Improve to see Wayne Brady.  What a great night to spend alone with no kids.  Even better, we sat next to Kurt Angle (Olympic wrestler; I had to google him but my husband knew who he was right away) and met both him and Wayne Brady!  I’m sure Wayne was SO excited to meet me, just look at his smile 🙂

Now back from my busy weekend, I’m back on track.  I’ve been to the gym twice this week with plans of going at least two more times and I’m eating right. As for weight loss, I did lose 2 lbs this week with a total of 15 lbs lost.  It’s been a slow week for weight loss but a I’m not worried I’m running a race and I know I’ll come out ahead.

Weight Loss Wednesday ~ My First Post

May 16, 2012 by racheljk 4 Comments

Eat less.  Exercise more.

Seems simple right?  Ughhh, I wish!  I look back and wonder how I got to be the size I am and know it was one meal at a time.  While I’ve attempted to lose weight in the past, it has never stuck.  Finally I’m sick and tired of being sick and tired 🙂  It’s time to do something!!

I hope to share with you every Wednesday how I’m doing and perhaps little tips that I’m attempting along the way.  I hope that you will be a great support to me because I know I’ll need it!

🦁✨ Look behind the stage of Disney's @thelionking 🦁✨ Look behind the stage of Disney's @thelionking at @playhousesquare My son and I saw the show last week, and it completely blew us away. The costumes, the music, the puppetry... it was one of the most incredible productions we've ever seen. ❤️ DON'T be late! The opening number is quite a unique experience. The next morning, we went back for a behind-the-scenes tour, and it made us appreciate the show even more! We learned that some of the masks are made with real horsehair, got to see how the amazing puppets are operated on stage, and discovered one of my favorite fun facts... Zazu's neck is made from a slinky! 🤯 Another fun surprise? Rob Sapp, who plays Ed, one of the hyenas, is from Solon, Ohio! 🙌 I always love hearing about local talent making it to Broadway, and it made the experience even more special knowing there was an Ohio connection. It's amazing how much creativity, engineering, and artistry go into bringing this beloved story to life. Whether you've seen the animated movie once or a hundred times, seeing it on stage is an unforgettable experience. 🎭 Disney's The Lion King is at Playhousesquare through August 16, and I can't recommend it enough. If it's on your bucket list, now's the time! 💛 Have you seen The Lion King on stage? Or tell me your favorite Broadway show in the comments! 👇 #bwycle #thelionking #clevelandmom #ohiofindithere
