The Newly Renovated Hotel Breakers at Cedar Point Debuts This Spring 2015!

April 11, 2015 by racheljk Leave a Comment

hotel breakers renovations

Have you heard? Cedar Point has completed it’s two-year transformation on the historic Hotel Breakers and I for one am downright giddy to check it out.  My family has stayed at Hotel Breakers for the past two years and while we loved historic feel of the hotel and the fabulous location, it did need a little sprucing up.

Hotel Breakers, Cedar Point’s premium hotel, is located along the mile-long Cedar Point Beach.  It is the closest property to the coasters and rides that we all love.  Seriously, you can walk right to the park.

Hotel Breakers Renovations

Along with a new exterior, the modernized hotel will have a new entrance portal, classic interior finishes, newly-furnished and remodeled rooms with LCD TV’s, new furniture, bedding and décor, and many other amenities and offerings. Additional enhancements include a new Starbucks and the Surf Lounge bar inside the famous rotunda, widened exterior green space with panoramic views of Lake Erie and an outdoor water play area with zero depth entry and splash features.

Hotel Breakers Renovations 2015

“We want to provide a well-rounded and complete vacation experience for our guests, and the enhancements at the Hotel Breakers will help them have just that,” said Jason McClure. “It will have a fun and fresh feel, is steps away from the park and it’s a great place to start new family traditions.”

Other amenities include two pools and Jacuzzis, access to the Cedar Point Beach and Boardwalk, a gift shop, arcade, exercise room, three restaurants, Early Entry (access to some of the biggest rides and coasters before the park opens to the general public), discounted Cedar Point admission tickets, complimentary Wi-Fi and the comfort and convenience of staying right next to the rides and roller coasters of Cedar Point. Reservations for the 2015 season can be placed now online or by phone at (419) 627-2106.

Hotel Breakers Renovations 2015 a

The charming waterfront hotel first opened its doors in 1905 as the “largest and greatest hotel on the Great Lakes.” Known for its breathtaking views and cool summer breezes, Hotel Breakers has been an important part of any complete Cedar Point experience. Notable guests over the years have included celebrities such as sharpshooter Annie Oakley, comedians Abbott and Costello, composer John Philip Sousa and six U.S. presidents, including Franklin D. Roosevelt and Dwight D. Eisenhower.

Located on a sandy peninsula along the shore of Lake Erie, Cedar Point has been named as one of the best amusement parks in the world by USA Today, TripAdvisor, The Travel Channel and more. Cedar Point’s amazing lineup of roller coasters has received top billing by CBS News, Time magazine, the Los Angeles Times and many more.

Review: Sesame Street Live Make A New Friend Cleveland 3/19 – 3/22! Tickets Still Available!

Sesame Street Live Make a New Friend is playing at Playhouse Square, State Theater now through March 19th. On Thursday, I took my boys who are 4, 7 and 9 and we are all LOVED the show! Sesame Street Live: Make a New Friend is fun, upbeat, and makes for a fun family outing.

I and probably many of you, grew up watching and loving Sesame Street. It’s where I was introduced to the alphabet, counting and how to be a friend. I just love that I can share that love with my own children.  This is our third year seeing Sesame Street live and I find it so special seeing my kids smile, laugh and dance along with some of my “old friends”.

sesame street live cleveland 2015 1a

During the show the Sesame Street friends Elmo, Grover, Abby Cadabby, and others welcome Chamki, Grover’s friend from India. Together, they explore the universal fun of friendship and celebrate cultural similarities, from singing and dancing, to sharing cookies! Throughout the show my kids were smiling, laughing and dancing in their seats; yep, even my nine year old!

While we go every year (see picture below), this year’s show was hands down my favorite!  I loved the mix of contemporary songs set to kid-friendly words such as a spoof on Katy Perry’s Hot & Cold, Count’s version of a Bruno Mars song, and a funny version of Moves Like Jagger talking about pigeons and triangles!  Of course the chance to learn while still having fun will always get this mama’s approval!

Sesame Street Live over the years small

My favorite number was the towards the end when Chamki and dancers came out dressed in traditional Indian outfits and sang and danced to Indian music.  My oldest son’s eye got really big and he asked, “When can we go to India? That looks like FUN!”  I applaud Sesame Street to introducing this beautiful culture to my kiddos!

This show keeps the little ones entertained from start to finish with about a 20 minute intermission in between two high energy packed sessions. If you are sitting down in the first section your kiddos may even have the opportunity to interact with the characters that come down into the crowd so grabbing an end seat may be best.

While you are at the show, don’t forget to take LOTS of pictures! Since this is our third year attending, it was so fun to look back on previous years show and reflect.  Take pictures before the show, during the show and after!  Sesame Street Live Make A New Friend is the perfect outing with your kids and they’ll have memories to last a lifetime!

Those pencils, notebooks and glue sticks always seem to disappear right when the prices go back up! 2️⃣ Office supplies: Back-to-school sales aren’t just for students. 🦁✨ Look behind the stage of Disney's @thelionking 🦁✨ Look behind the stage of Disney's @thelionking at @playhousesquare My son and I saw the show last week, and it completely blew us away. The costumes, the music, the puppetry... it was one of the most incredible productions we've ever seen. ❤️ DON'T be late! The opening number is quite a unique experience. The next morning, we went back for a behind-the-scenes tour, and it made us appreciate the show even more! We learned that some of the masks are made with real horsehair, got to see how the amazing puppets are operated on stage, and discovered one of my favorite fun facts... Zazu's neck is made from a slinky! 🤯 Another fun surprise? Rob Sapp, who plays Ed, one of the hyenas, is from Solon, Ohio! 🙌 I always love hearing about local talent making it to Broadway, and it made the experience even more special knowing there was an Ohio connection. It's amazing how much creativity, engineering, and artistry go into bringing this beloved story to life. Whether you've seen the animated movie once or a hundred times, seeing it on stage is an unforgettable experience. 🎭 Disney's The Lion King is at Playhousesquare through August 16, and I can't recommend it enough. If it's on your bucket list, now's the time! 💛 Have you seen The Lion King on stage? Or tell me your favorite Broadway show in the comments! 👇 #bwycle #thelionking #clevelandmom #ohiofindithere
