Cedar Point: Check Out the Gatekeeper and Enter to Win Tickets!!

Cedar Point Media Day_2338

This giveaway is now over.

Gatekeeper at Cedar Point – Win Tickets

Have you heard? Cedar Point is opening this Saturday, May 11th!  Are you as excited as I am?

Read on to find out how to enter to win a 4-pack of tickets to Cedar Point!

This Thursday, I was invited to Media Day at Cedar Point and was able to preview the new winged roller coaster, Gatekeeper.  Before even entering the park I was blown away by the new entrance.  Not only are there trendy new buildings for ticket sales, guest services, and season passes but there is also a new gate with a super sized screen above it welcoming you to Cedar Point.  I had to chuckle when I saw that one of the sayings on the sign said, “Yes, you ARE here yet”.  For those of you with little ones, you are sure to understand.

It felt great to finally enter the park after the long winter months.  We spend so much time at Cedar Point as a family, five months out of the year, that it really feels like our second home.  With season passes, we are able to visit the park from the warm days in May to the crisp cool nights during Halloweekends in October.

1

As you walk through the newly designed gates you’ll get a rush of excitement as you look up at the new coaster as it zooms by overhead.  I love that this allows everyone the opportunity to a part of the Gatekeeper even if they don’t actually ride!

This unique coaster is unlike any other as it’s not only the longest winged roller coaster but it also has the longest drop of any winged roller coaster on the planet!  You’ll zoom up to speeds of 67 miles per hour during your over 2 minute and 30 second ride.  Since you are actually sitting on the wings of this coaster be sure to ride from both sides so you’ll get a different experience both times.  This ride is a MUST-DO for any coaster enthusiast.  Throughout the day I heard excitement from all around as they exclaimed their own love for this ride.

1

Will you be brave enough to ride this 4,164 foot long coaster with a 164 foot drop?  Watch the video below and check out the ride!  It’s simply amazing!

Win a 4-Pack of tickets to Cedar Point!!

Giveaway ~ HalloWeekends At Cedar Point!

October 11, 2012 by racheljk 209 Comments

THANKS FOR ENTERING!!  This giveway is now over!  The winner is Margaret Landini!

If you’ve been around my blog very long then you know how much my family LOVES Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio!  We are blessed to live within 35 minutes of the Best Amusement Park in the World and we take full advantage with our season passes.  One of the best things about Cedar Point is that since it’s open from May to October so you can enjoy it 6 months out of the year.

Right now Cedar Point is in the middle of HalloWeekends.  HalloWeekends has family friendly fun during the day and becomes a little spooky at night. The whole park is decorated in fun characters and of course my boys want to stop and see them all!

There is so much to see and do at Cedar Point’s HalloWeekends and these can be broken down into two easy groups.  Look below to see what would fit for you!

Family Attractions:

  • Skeleton Crew— An exciting spectacle of acrobatics and aerial acts taking place throughout the day in Cedar Point’s new Celebration Plaza!
  • The Goodtime Ghouls: A Halloween Hullabaloo— An energetic musical revue featuring a mix of rockabilly, swing, pop and disco in the Good Time Theater.
  • Gypsy Fortune Tellers— Find out what’s in the cards for you as you venture into Frontiertown.
  • Charlie Brown’s Funtime Frolics— Join Charlie, Snoopy and the PEANUTS[Equation] gang for music, stories and spooky surprises.
  • The Magical House on Boo Hill— Whimsical illusions await at every corner in the topsy-turvy house just outside the Blue Streak roller coaster.
  • Monster Midway Invasion Celebration— Friendly monsters and characters take over the Cedar Point Main Midway with dancing, parade floats and music every day at 4 p.m.
  • PEANUTS™ Halloween Show and Kids’ Costume Contest— Bring your little pirates and princesses for pre-school competitions at 2 p.m. and grade-school competitions at 2:45 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday in the Blue Streak Plaza.
  • Sideshow: A Carnival of Magic— Step right up for amazing illusions and jaw-dropping suspense!

Enter if You Dare:

  • Eden Musee´— The wax museum’s longtime owner has left his children to run the family business their way, with disastrous results.
  • Cut Throat Cove— Meet the motley crews of sunken ships, left scavenging on the shores for more than 150 years in Frontiertown.
  • Blood on the Bayou— Who knows what’s lurking in the murky waters of the lagoon? Watch out for the swamp’s primitive inhabitants, who don’t look kindly on company.
  • Maniacal, Mechanical Screamworks— Step into a metallic world of science fiction full of gadgets, gears and hollow screams.
  • CarnEvil— The crazy clowns and sideshow freaks are always recruiting, whether or not you’re a willing participant.
  • Club Blood— This is nightlife like you’ve never known. Let the intoxicating sights and sounds captivate your senses, but don’t let the bloodthirsty dancers get too close…
  • CornStalkers— Make your way through a twisted maze of terror, where someone is always watching.
  • Eternity Infirmary— Pack your bags carefully— once you check into this hospital, you won’t be checking out.
  • Edge of Madness: Resurrection— Come to the Red Slaughter Saloon for 80s rock with a dark side.
  • Fear Faire— A maze of medieval mayhem!

One of our favorite attractions is The Magical House on Boo Hill.  This attraction allows you to walk through a kid-friendly “spooky house” where you can rest assure that nothing scary will be jumping out at your kiddies.  Best of all, kids receive a little treat bag with candy at the end.  I can not confirm or deny that we went through more than once 🙂

In this same area your little ones will be able to have a chance to meet characters, dance with some “monsters”, see a Peanuts show, and walk through a haymaze.  This is also the area where the costume contest is held.  The winners get to be in the afternoon parade that goes down the midway!

Looking for something with a bit more fright?  Well for those of you who dare, there are 10 spine-tingling walk-through attractions in addition to nearly 70 thrilling rides on America’s Roller Coast!  New this year is the Eden Musee´ Wax Museum and Chamber of Horrors.  In a forlorn corner of Frontiertown, the museum’s owner has died and his children have taken over, using their own haphazard methods for creating wax figures that don’t always stand still. Guests will see the nightmarish assembly in the boiler room and hear the cries for help in the Chamber of Horrors! YIKES!

If you have kids of different ages (and heights) you may want to grab a Parent Swap pass while you are there!  With this pass one parent would wait in line while the other waits with the younger children.  Once the parent rides they can give this pass to the ride operator and the parent waiting with the kiddies can walk in the exit gate and right onto a ride!  How neat is that?

During HalloWeekends, Cedar Point will be open from 6 p.m. to midnight on Fridays; 11 a.m. to midnight on Saturdays; and noon to 9 p.m. on Sundays from Sept. 14 through Oct. 28. For more information about Cedar Point’s HalloWeekends or to purchase tickets, visit Cedar Point online!  Save up to $10 per ticket by buying online!

Cedar Point wants you to experience the FUN too and has graciously offered 2 FREE tickets to my readers!  To enter this giveaway, simply enter a comment below (while appreciated, comments left on Facebook won’t count).  This giveaway will end at noon on Friday, October 12th.  One comment per person, duplicate comments will be deleted.  Winner will be picked randomly via random.org.  The winner will be contacted via email and must respond within 24 hours.

Disclosure:  This giveaway is NOT associated with Facebook in anyway.  Cedar Point is offering FREE tickets to my readers in an exchange for my review.  I received no compensation or personal tickets for my review.  All opinions are my own.

Our Day At Cedar Point!

July 11, 2012 by norayoung Leave a Comment

Standing outside Planet Snoopy!
Since my husband works on the weekdays my mom and I take the boys often.

We love Cedar Point!

We live in Northeast Ohio and are blessed that we are so close to the best amusement park in the world!  I’m amazed, as I chat with people waiting in line, how far some have traveled to spend just one day at Cedar Point.  I definitely take it for granted that it’s only a short 40 minute ride from our driveway to the entryway of Cedar Point.

Before having kids, I remember standing in lines anxiously waiting to ride the highest, fastest and most unique coasters in the world.  Now that we have young children, we have a different experience at the park but we have just as much fun!

Top Thrill Dragster – A very popular coaster here at the park!

Since my 3 boys are 6 year old and under we get to spend quality time together on many of Cedar Points family rides.  The Skyride, Space Spiral, and Ferris Wheel (all pictured below) are a few of our favorites.  We can all ride them together while also getting a view of the park from up above.

The park has three main kiddie areas that we spend the majority of our time at.  Two are located at the front of the park while the third is towards the back.  Many of the kids rides have the option for an adult to ride along so it’s a FUN time for the whole family! My kiddos can ride these rides over and over again and we are able to spend hours and each kiddie area.

A wonderful feature in Planet Snoopy is The Family Care Center.  This air-conditioned building offers restrooms, cold water, a changing table, bottle warmers, rocking chairs, private nursing rooms, and a small play area for kids.  When I was nursing my babies this area was a God-send!  This building is also one of the first aid centers at the park.

We are so excited that our oldest child is now tall enough to start riding the big rides.  Once he gets up his courage, our Snoopy Land days will be numbered!

Not only did we venture to Cedar Point, but we also spent a few hours at Soak City.  Be sure to look for that post where I’ll share some pictures and one of Cedar Point’s secret gems.   Stay tuned!

Disclosure:  This post was not sponsored by Cedar Point and the opinions are mine.  My family has season passes to Cedar Point and I was not given any tickets to faciliate my post.

Champagne dreams, flapper dresses, and a night for Champagne dreams, flapper dresses, and a night for Broadway in Cleveland? Count me in! ✨🥂 Last night we stepped back into the Roaring Twenties for media night at @bwaygatsby at @playhousesquare! My sister and I snagged our 1920s-inspired outfits and made a whole evening of it. We started with happy hour at @encorepsq, the stylish bar right across the street from Playhouse Square, which had the perfect swanky Gatsby vibes. I love their happy hours specials too! Then we grabbed a quick dinner at Sushi En before heading into the theater. And wow... this show is BIG Broadway. Think stunning costumes, gorgeous sets, incredible choreography, and all the glitz and glamour you'd expect from Gatsby. The production is visually spectacular and brings the lavish world of Jay Gatsby to life in a way that feels larger than life. If you love classic stories, dazzling performances, and a little Jazz Age sparkle, add this one to your summer theater list. ✨🎭 The Great Gatsby is playing at Playhouse Square through June 28 as part of the KeyBank Broadway Series. Tickets are currently still available and can be purchased by calling 216-241-6000 or online at playhousesquare.org. Who else loves a themed night out? 🍾 #thegreatgatsby #BroadwayCleveland #BWYCLE #BwayGatsbyTour
🎭 Did you know you can take a FREE behind-the-scen 🎭 Did you know you can take a FREE behind-the-scenes tour of @playhousesquare? 🎭 Everyone needs to add this to their Cleveland bucket list! Free public tours of Playhouse Square are offered on the third Saturday of every month, and they're packed with fascinating history, hidden details, and stories you probably never knew. You'll learn how this incredible theater district went from nearly being demolished in the 1970s to becoming the largest theater restoration project in the world. Did you know that Playhouse Square is the second-largest performing arts district in the United States, behind only Broadway in New York City, with 12 performance venues throughout the district? One of my favorite parts was getting to see everything up close and in detail without the usual crowds. From the stunning architecture to the behind-the-scenes stories, there were so many things I've walked past for years without realizing their significance. If you've ever attended a show, or even if you haven't, I highly recommend taking this tour. It's a whole new way to experience one of Cleveland's most iconic treasures. ❤️ Have you ever taken a Playhouse Square tour? Be sure to tell a friend! 🎟️👇 #PlayhouseSquare #ClevelandOhio #thisiscleveland #CLE #clevelandevents
Another Put-In-Bay giveaway coming soon! ☀️ Summe Another Put-In-Bay giveaway coming soon! ☀️ Summer is officially here, and what better way to celebrate than a girls' day at Put-in-Bay! 🚢💙 We hopped aboard the @millerboatline for a scenic ride to the island and rented golf carts from @esputinbay to explore all the fun spots around the @visitputinbay island. Did you know you can save money when you book them together? Check out the E's Golf Cart & Miller Ferry Put-in-Bay Discount Package when you reserve at least one day in advance! One of the reasons we love Miller Ferry is that it's the most affordable way to get to the island, and it's the only ferry that lets you bring your car. Plus, E's Golf Carts is conveniently located just around the corner from the Miller Ferry drop-off. The weather was absolutely gorgeous! We spent the day shopping, cruising around the island by golf cart, enjoying lunch at The Keys, relaxing at the little beach on the tip of the island, and taking a short hike to soak in the views. Put-in-Bay is such a fun destination for both groups and families. If you're bringing kids, be sure to check out the highly rated caves on the islands, play a round of putt-putt, visit the Lake Erie Islands Nature & Wildlife Center, and stop by the Butterfly House for a colorful, family-friendly experience. (I usually just avoid the downtown area on weekend evenings if I'm visiting with kids.) Who's ready for an island day trip? #putinbay #MillerFerry #GirlsTrip #OhioAdventures #LakeErieIslands
🦖 My niece, brother, and I had a ROARing good time 🦖 My niece, brother, and I had a ROARing good time at @gocmnh on Sunday for DINO DAY! 🦕✨ A big thank you to @realgoodfoods for inviting us to this fun family event! We explored the museum, checked out life-sized dinosaurs, enjoyed hands-on activities, crafts, face painting, and interactive exhibits throughout the day. They even gave away COUPONS!! Of course, one of the highlights was sampling Realgood Foods' dino chicken nuggets! I personally eat Realgood chicken - there is always a bag in my freezer. It is high protein and low carb! I eat a lot of chicken and I'm picky with my brands, but I enjoy this treat when I need something fast and tasty! It was such a fun day filled with dinosaurs, learning, and making memories together. 🦖❤️
