Cedar Point Halloweekends – Perfect For the Whole Family!

September 24, 2013 by racheljk Leave a Comment

cedar point halloweekends
If you’re a regular around here or on my Facebook page, you know that I’m a little obsessed in love with all things Cedar Point.  My family and I get season passes each year (read why I think Cedar Point Platinum passes are a great value) and practically spend 6 months a year out there.  From spring to fall, Cedar Point has so much to offer!

Along with the cooler temps, Halloweekends have arrived.  Halloweekends at Cedar Point has just the right mix of spooky thrills for those who dare and pint sized fun for the little ones.  Each weekend through October 27th you spend the whole day creating memories, in fact there is so much to see and do you may want to stay for the weekend.

Yes, my littlest is sticking out his tongue…3 year olds!

Family Friendly Activities:

Howl-O-Palooza:

  • Magical House on Boo Hill – a fun house just for kids
  • Peanuts Halloween Show & Kids’ Costume Contest
       **Saturdays and Sundays: 2:00 (pre-schoolers), 2:45 (grade-schoolers)
  • Hay Bale Maze
  • Special appearances by the Peanuts pals in costume!
  • Cedar Point’s own Friendly Monsters will be on hand for photos and more

Trick or Treat with the Dinosaurs:

  • New this year, kids can trick-or-treat with the dinosaurs from Dinosaur in Dinosaurs Alive! on Adventure Island.
  • Candy stops, pumpkins, prizes and crafts along the path.
  • More than 50 life-sized, moving dinosaurs.
  • Open every Saturday and Sunday noon to 6 p.m.
  • $5 ticket is required

Other Activites:

  • Monster Midway Invasion Celebration parade (4:00 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays)
  • Live shows including, Charlie Brown’s Funtime Frolics and many more.

Last weekend we were able to visit Cedar Point three days in a row as I was there for a Blogging Conference.  It was so nice to spend the day or evening in the park without having to drive home.  It was my first stay at the Hotel Breakers and boy did I have a gorgeous view to wake up to each morning.  I love how the Hotel was decked out in Halloween decorations.  Cedar Point never holds back!

If you are looking at extended your stay, I’d highly suggest one of the Cedar Point resorts.  If you stay at any of their properties you’ll get a few perks, including early entry into the park, discounted tickets, free parking, and courtesy shuttle service.  We loved the convenience of having two nearby entrances into the park as well as the option to be shuttled to the front of the park also.  Hotel Breakers is right in the middle of the park and close to everything.

Our little ones remember Cedar Point Halloweekends vividly from previous years and couldn’t wait to head over to the Howl-O-Palooza area on Friday night.  They couldn’t decide whether to go to the hay maze or Magical House on Boo Hill first – tough decision.  The Magical House on Boo Hill is a family friendly walk-though house with many decorations to see.  There are no worries of things jumping out at you and your kids being frightened, even my three year old loves it.  At the end of your walk the young children will receive a small bag of candy.  The hay maze looks slightly different this year but still tons of fun.  I seriously lost count how many times they went through.  I appreciate that this activity is something we can do with our boys or something they can do on their own while we sit down and chat.

While there, we were also able to check out the new area called Trick or Treat with the Dinosaurs.  For a small fee of $5 your children can see more than 50 life-sized dinosaurs, snag some candy or small toys, participate in crafts and more.  We really enjoyed this area and I loved that the kiddos were able to snag a couple non-candy treats also.  Checking out the dinosaur’s different Halloween outfits made us laugh and we all loved picking out our favorites.  Read more about our first trip to Dinosaurs Alive at Cedar Point.

On Sunday my in-laws were able to come up to the park.  Since this was their first visit in over 20 years there was a lot to see.  They were amazed by how much the park has changed over the years but were happy to still see their old favorites such as the Mine Ride, the train, and Cadillac Cars.  That’s one of the best things I love about Cedar Point. there is FUN for everyone of any age!

Dinosaurs Alive at Cedar Point – Review

July 23, 2013 by racheljk 24 Comments

Most of you know how much my family loves Cedar Point! In fact we love it so much that each year we get season passes for the whole family. Not only are Cedar Point Season Passes a frugal summer activity but since the Cedar Point season lasts through the fall you’ll get almost 6 months of action-packed fun.

While we visit Cedar Point almost weekly we had not checked out the Dinosaurs Alive exhibit until just recently. Dinosaurs Alive is located inside Cedar Point and near the entrance of Camp Snoopy. With more than 50 life-size animatronic dinosaurs there is so much to see.

dinosaurs alive
My three boys were amazed to find dinosaurs hiding among the trees and in areas that looked like their natural habitat.  While we have been to a dinosaur exhibit before we have never seen dinosaurs quite like this.    These gigantic dinosaurs are life-sized and some soar high above.  I felt quite small standing next to a few of them and it made me thankful that they are now extinct.  Cedar Point has done an amazing job in creating such a true-to-life exhibit.

Cedar Point’s Dinosaurs Alive is not scary at all and geared towards kids of all ages.  With interactive consoles, for you to interact with as well as placecards at each area you’ll not only have a fun time but also learn a little along the way.  The animatronic dinosaurs that move as you walk by will really make you feel like you’ve just stepped back in time.

Dinosaurs Alive

One of my boys favorite areas was the Dino Dig Site which was conveniently located half way through.  This large area sand play area for kids has plenty of sand toys for kids to uncover a life-sized dinosaur skeleton. To make this area even more exciting, each day through August 31st a K’NEX classic white connector is buried in this area.  If you or your child finds it they will win a K’NEX K’NEXosaurus Rex Building Set.  Keep in mind that there is one winner per day.

Dinosaurs Alive

With an easy to navigate walkway this exhibit is open to strollers and wheelchairs.   I found that most of the exhibit was covered with trees so it was truly relaxing to stroll along even though it was a HOT day.

If you are in need of a little assistance or have a dino question there are several tour guides located throughout the exhibit that would love to help you out.  They are easy to spot in there tan uniform (see below).  My two oldest boys were full of questions and asked quite a few to each guide we encountered.  In fact they they even requested a picture with one.

PicMonkey Collage

Our family LOVED our time visiting Dinosaurs Alive and plan on making it a yearly stop.  With it only being $5 a ticket (with a paid Cedar Point ticket), it’s a frugal summer fun idea too!

Next time you head off to Cedar Point step back in time and check out the prehistoric island adventure called Dinosaurs Alive!

This is an unpaid post.  All opinions are my own.  A huge thanks to Cedar Point who provided my tickets to Dinosaurs Alive so that I could faciliate my review.

The food was AMAZING! I’m still dreaming about it! The food was AMAZING! I’m still dreaming about it! 🤤 What a steal too! If you’re looking for the perfect date night, this is it 💕
The @interconcle is celebrating their 80th anniversary and for just $80 per couple, you can enjoy a full multi-course tasting menu every Friday, Saturday & Sunday evening. 🙌 My husband and I spent the evening at @tbl45 inside the InterContinental Hotel Cleveland… and it did NOT disappoint. We each ordered different items so we could sample everything (highly recommend doing this 👏). We tried both the salmon tostadas and the elote corn ribs, both were delicious, but that corn?! WOW. The grilled corn ribs are topped with cotija cheese, chipotle aioli, tajín, and cilantro… and you can taste every single flavor. Seriously… drool-worthy! For entrées, my husband had the skirt steak, tender, juicy, and cooked perfectly. I stole a few bites and it was melt-in-your-mouth good. I ordered the arroz con pollo and the grilled chicken thighs were so flavorful and juicy. And dessert? We both loved it! I still can’t believe this also includes two perfectly crafted cocktails (you can choose from two options!). Two drinks, two appetizers, two entrées, and two desserts… for $80 total 🤯 YES PLEASE. Right now it’s a Latin American menu, and the themes rotate throughout the year, so you can come back again and again for a brand new experience every time. Go ahead and reserve your table… and make it a date night to remember 💕 📍 Table 45 at the InterContinental Hotel Cleveland

Still thinking about last night at @playhousesquar Still thinking about last night at @playhousesquare … and honestly, I don’t think I’m over it yet. @outsidersmusical is not your typical musical. It’s gritty, emotional, and pulls you right into the story of Ponyboy and the Greasers, fighting for belonging, identity, and survival. Based on the iconic novel and the classic film, this production brings a whole new layer of life to a story so many of us already love. And it absolutely earns its hype! This show is the winner of FOUR Tony Awards in 2024, including Best Musical 👏 The rumble scene in the rain? It’s intense, powerful, and one of those moments where the entire theater just leans in. So well done! But what really stayed with me was the emotion behind it all, the friendships, the struggles, and that deep need to belong. There’s something special about nights like this that remind me how lucky we are to have Broadway performances right here in Cleveland ❤️ If you’re thinking about going… GO.
This one sticks with you. #broadwaycleveland #bwycle #OutsidersTour
