Last weekend, I took my crew and a few of their friends to see an advance screening of GOOSEBUMPS 2: Haunted Halloween. They all loved the first one and have been eagerly awaiting the second movie!
I have three boys ranging from 8 – 12 years old and with my oldest being almost a teen, I’m starting to find it tricky to figure out which movies will be work for the whole family. I’m happy to report this one was. While it had a few spooky parts (or “jump scares” like my kids call them), it was had just as many laughs. I think this makes it the perfect family movie to jump start the Halloween festivities!
The two main characters, Sonny (Jeremy Ray Taylor) and Sam (Caleel Harris), have a chemistry on-screen that feels like they have been friends their whole lives. Jack Black, who doesn’t show up until towards the end, still brings an equal amount of intrigue to the plot. My kids favorite part involved an attack of gummy bears that had us all laughing! Are you on the fence? I think your family it going to love this FUN movie. Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween is truly family-friendly fun for all.
Synopsis:
While collecting junk one day, best friends Sonny and Sam meet Slappy, a mischievous talking dummy from an unpublished “Goosebumps” book by R.L. Stine. Hoping to start his own family, Slappy kidnaps Sonny’s mother and brings all of his ghoulish friends back to life — just in time for Halloween. As the sleepy town becomes overrun with monsters, witches and other mysterious creatures, Sonny joins forces with his sister, Sam and a kindly neighbor to save Sonny’s mom and foil Slappy’s plan.
