Disclosure: I was offered a discounted rate in exchange for sharing my experiences. Regardless, all opinions are my own.

Our trip is just weeks away now!!

Summer break will be here soon and my sister and I are planning a getaway to the Francis Scott Key Family Resort in Ocean City, Maryland. Best of all, none of our kiddos even know! Soon after school lets out we are packing up the car and heading out for a mini vacation. With the beach just a short 8 hour drive from Cleveland, it’s the perfect vacation spot. While my sister has stayed before at this resort before, this will be our first time and I’m counting down the days.

The Francis Scott Key Family Resort is located on Route 50 and just one mile from the beach and boardwalk, across from the Tanger Outlets. This family friendly resort offers tons of extra amenities on-site while being a convenient distance from beach activities. There is plenty of free parking is available on site, and offer nearby access to a free county boat ramp.

Francis Scott Key Resort Amenities:

The Francis Scott Key Resort offers a ton of fun things to do such as multiple pool areas, a playground, a sand volleyball and basketball court, fitness room, arcade, picnic pavilion, DVD and board game rental, washer and dryers and so much more. This family amazing resort truly wants you to get the most out of your vacation!

The Francis Scott Key Resort also offers three restaurants and two bars so you won’t have to go far to get your fill. The Shipwreck Cove Bar offers tasty drinks while the Surf Shack Pool Bar also offers snacks such as pizza, wings and ice cream. The Chicken and Ribs Shack fires up their smokers daily and serves delicious chicken and ribs platters along with other tasty treats, while their 50’s style sit-down restaurant, Route 50 Diner serves both breakfast and lunch. Best of all you’ll snag FREE donuts while you wait for your meal!

Caribbean Key Indoor Pool
No matter the weather outside, it’s always 84 degrees and sunny, at their indoor pirate themed pool. Let the kids play with the spouting whale, dumping buckets, pipe falls and water slide. This area is decorated with palm trees and island murals and offers a retractable roof that allows the sun to shine in as the warm air breezes through! This heated amusement pool slopes from 6 inches to 4 feet so it’s perfect for the whole family.

Shipwreck Cove
Francis Scott Key Resort has a new pool area called Shipwreck Cove. It is open Memorial Day weekend through mid September
and offers up a lot. You can relax around the Caribbean themed pool or enjoy a beverage at the pool bar. The dinghy themed hot tub is a great place to relax and unwind and the second floor of the pirate ship has seating and lounge chairs for up to 75.

Pirate Ship Sprayground
The pirate ship is a designated kids zone. The ship’s slides are ideal for children 4 feet and under though the dumping buckets and water features are fun for all ages. The splashground is a seasonal amenity from mid-June though Labor Day. The Pirate Ship Spray Ground opens weekends weather permitting Memorial Day Weekend 2017 until full time on June 9, 2017.

Peg Leg Putt Putt
Challenge the family to a round of mini golf! This FREE miniature golf course consists of 9 beautifully landscaped holes, with a bridge over a stream, waterfall, octopus, cannon, skull cave, treasure chest and more. A great course for family and kids of all ages.  The mini golf is open year round and weather permitting. It is conveniently located next to Shipwreck Cove.

Francis Scott Key Rooms:
Whether you are a small or large family the Francis Scott Key Family Resort has you covered. They offer rooms small enough for just two or large enough to accommodate up to six total guests. In fact their newest cabins will hold even more. From rooms with basic amenities all the way to rooms and cabins with full kitchens, there is something for everyone. All guest rooms have coffee makers, hair dryers, DVD players and in room safes. From the reviews online, I hear their beds are super comfortable too!

The Francis Scott Key Family Resort offers many different types of rooms depending on your family’s needs. For instance the Ranch Style rooms have two double beds (some offer a sleep sofa), a compact microwave and refrigerator combo, while the New York and New Jersey rooms feature full kitchens including a microwave, oven, and full size refrigerator. Cookware and flatware are included for your convenience. We are choosing the rooms with kitchens are we plan on cooking a few meals while staying at the resort.

I simply can’t wait to spend a few days away with family in May at the Francis Scott Key Family Resort in Ocean City, Maryland. If you too are looking to plan a family getaway. Be sure to check them out! The best deals and lowest prices are right now, so be sure to book soon!

See you at the beach!

This resort is beautiful on the outside AND the inside! First, love that it can offer fun activities and amenities for the entire family. Second, love that there’s a variety of room options. It’s good to know that families of all sizes can find a room that’s perfect and cozy for them.

The family and I are long overdue for a vacation. It’s only been 7 years… I think the Francis Scott Key Family Resort would be an awesome vacation spot.

This resort looks amazing! Especially the waterpark! I like how it’s period themed. We used to live in Northern VA and we never got over to Ocean City. We did visit Queenstown, MD and stayed at a historic hotel. Thank you for sharing!

This looks like an amazing resort. I am always looking to take the family on a vacation somewhere fun. This place looks awesome. I really love the idea of an indoor pool. It’s great for when it might be raining outside or too cold outside.

This resort looks like a great place to stay in Ocean City! If I’m being honest, it’s not my favorite place to visit and I’m forced to go each Summer for my daughter’s Nationals dance competition. I’ll have to look into this location though as it may be the one thing that turns my opinion around!

This place is beautiful, and there’s so much to do there too. I always imagine that these hotels can only be found on the islands, but this is cheaper and more easily accessible.

This looks like it would be so much fun and I LOVE finding family-friendly places that gear things toward everyone. I have friends in DC with a younger daughter. I will definitely recommend Francis Scott Key to them!

🦁✨ Look behind the stage of Disney's @thelionking 🦁✨ Look behind the stage of Disney's @thelionking at @playhousesquare My son and I saw the show last week, and it completely blew us away. The costumes, the music, the puppetry... it was one of the most incredible productions we've ever seen. ❤️ DON'T be late! The opening number is quite a unique experience. The next morning, we went back for a behind-the-scenes tour, and it made us appreciate the show even more! We learned that some of the masks are made with real horsehair, got to see how the amazing puppets are operated on stage, and discovered one of my favorite fun facts... Zazu's neck is made from a slinky! 🤯 Another fun surprise? Rob Sapp, who plays Ed, one of the hyenas, is from Solon, Ohio! 🙌 I always love hearing about local talent making it to Broadway, and it made the experience even more special knowing there was an Ohio connection. It's amazing how much creativity, engineering, and artistry go into bringing this beloved story to life. Whether you've seen the animated movie once or a hundred times, seeing it on stage is an unforgettable experience. 🎭 Disney's The Lion King is at Playhousesquare through August 16, and I can't recommend it enough. If it's on your bucket list, now's the time! 💛 Have you seen The Lion King on stage? Or tell me your favorite Broadway show in the comments! 👇 #bwycle #thelionking #clevelandmom #ohiofindithere
🩷 Would you hand feed the world's LARGEST rodent? 🩷 Would you hand feed the world's LARGEST rodent? We had the BEST day at @africansafariwildlifepark in Port Clinton, Ohio! This family-friendly attraction features both a drive-through safari and a walk-through park where you can get up close to hundreds of amazing animals from around the world. One of our favorite parts of the day was adding on the Capybara Feeding Experience! Capybaras are the world's largest rodents, and getting to feed these gentle, social animals was such a unique experience. For a small additional fee, the park also offers several other animal encounters, so you can customize your visit with even more unforgettable memories.
