GIVEAWAY over!  Congrats to Tiffany Hoesel!

Looking for something FUN to do this winter?  Head off to the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo!

The Cleveland Metroparks Zoo is obviously a family favorite during the spring, summer and fall months but I think visiting during the winter can be just as much fun, if not, my favorite time to visit!  Here are a few reasons that The Cleveland Metroparks Zoo is on my list of “Winter Family Fun”!

Smaller crowds:
Growing up, my parents would buy a yearly family membership to The Cleveland Metroparks Zoo and to maximize the benefits we went year round.  In fact, one of my favorite winter zoo memories is sliding down the ice covered stone stairs of the seal exhibit with my siblings…what energy we had!
If you visit the zoo during the winter months there are virtually no lines at the ticket counters, restrooms or the concession stands. Since there are a lot less people, you won’t have to feel rushed to move along because there is a family behind you waiting, nor will you have to hold up your child to see over the crowds in the smaller exhibits.

Indoor exhibits:

The Cleveland Zoo offers many heated indoor exhibits including the unique two-acre, two-level Rainforest exhibit, African Elephant Crossing, Wolf Lodge and the Primate, Cat and Aquatics building. We especially love visiting the Rainforest in the winter as the balmy temps inside are a welcome retreat to the harsh winter air.  With over 10,000 plants and over 600 animals from the jungles of Asia, Africa and the Americas, you could easily spend the afternoon just in this one building.

Much cooler:
While we love visiting the zoo in the middle of the summer, the cooler temperatures of winter allow us to enjoy the park without the humidity and haze that July can bring.  I find that many of the furry animals are much more active this time of year too as they are not hiding away trying to get out of the heat.
If the cold has you hesitant about walking about, no worries; The Cleveland Metroparks Zoo offers trams to transport you to the different areas.  We rode a open air tram up the the Primate building, much to the excitement of my boys and a heated bus on the way back and out to the Northern Trek.  Best of all, there were no lines!

Less expensive:
Well of course I’d be talking about this!  If you don’t have a Cleveland Zoo family membership (as low as $74 for two adult and up to 6 kids), then visiting the zoo in the winter months can save you money!  Winter rates, November through March, will snag you a $4 discount on adult tickets and a $2 discount on kids.  Depending how many are in your family, that can save you quite a lot!

It’s gorgeous:
Without the summer heat and large crowds, we were able to take our time and truly enjoy our day.  I think there is something quite peaceful about the snow covered paths, serene foliage, and smaller crowds that makes the winter months one of the best times to visit!

The wolves are my favorite exhibit that’s at the zoo. I really like the cozy feeling of the den. Plus the wolves aren’t the only exhibit near the den. You get to see otters and whatnot too! My son has never been to the zoo & I know my daughter would love to go back to the zoo.

What a gorgeous evening to enjoy our vibrant city! 🌽 After dinner, we saw @shuckedmusical musical and y’all… it was a-maize-ing! From the moment the curtain rose, I was all ears. The jokes were corny in the best way, the cast was pop-pin’, and the music? Straight up buttery smooth. Big shoutout to the writers for not husking around with the humor—this show shucks in all the right ways. I laughed, I teared up (maybe from the laughter), and I left the theater feeling like one happy kernel. Whether you're a theater buff or just stalk-ing a good time, go see Shucked. My sister and I had the BEST time seeing @peterpanthemusical at @playhousesquare and it was pure magic from start to finish! The sets were stunning, the flying scenes were jaw-dropping, and the cast brought all the nostalgia and wonder to life in the most heartwarming way. 💫 From the moment Peter soared onto the stage, we were hooked (pun intended 😂). Captain Hook was delightfully dramatic, the Lost Boys were hilarious, and Tinker Bell? Totally stole the show. It’s the perfect mix of adventure, laughs, and just enough fairy dust to make you believe in magic again. 🏴‍☠️✨ 🎭 If you’re in Cleveland, don’t miss it — Peter Pan is only in town through April 13th at Playhouse Square! Grab your tickets and take the whole fam (or just treat yourself). You’ll leave with a smile on your face and a little more belief in “never growing up.” 💚 #PeterPan #PlayhouseSquare #broadwaycleveland #NeverGrowUp #PlayhouseSquare #PeterPanOnTour

We stayed at the @aurahoteltimessquare which is literally steps from Times Square, so we kicked things off with the bright lights and hustle of the city. First stop: the American Museum of Natural History @amnh. We spent HOURS there and STILL didn’t see everything – definitely need to go back! 🦖✨ We took a stroll through @centralparknyc on a chilly but sunny day and climbed to the top of the Belvedere Castle. 🏰 Then, we went to an incredible concert at @townhallnyc where the orchestra played music from one of my son’s favorite video games. 🎶 Bonus: He got to meet the Grammy award winning artist @crosenmusic who arranged the music. After the concert we grabbed dinner at a local Irish pub @thelongroomnyc and listened to live music. We even met some new friends from Brazil! We stayed out ‘til the wee hours chatting and having way too much fun!. I can’t wait to visit them soon in their part of the world. 🌍 Our last day included some sightseeing, delicious food, and a little shopping spree. The Nintendo and Lego stores are two must visit destinations if you have kids! One-on-one time with my boys is always the best. It's so fun seeing him as an adult and sharing in his interests.
