Taste of the Browns
Last week my husband and I attended the Greater Cleveland Food Bank‘s Taste of the Browns fundraiser and there was electricity in the air! With the big win the Thursday and the announcement of Baker Mayfield as the starting quarterback, Browns fans just couldn’t keep their excitement in!
As soon as we walked into the beautiful Club Lounge at FirstEnergy Stadium, we were greeted by the Browns energetic mascot, CHOMPS. Of course, a selfie was a must! Just beyond check-in we spotted some delicious food from area chefs and restaurants. We were able to sample bites such as Georgia Peach burgers from B Spot Burgers, gigantic Salerno Family meatballs from Lago East Bank, and a very tasty Las Gachas from Momocho. There were so many delicious nibbles, I’m sure we missed a few.
What’s amazing about this yearly event, is that every dollar raised equals 4 meals for those in need. During the three hour event there were wonderful prizes to bid on during both the silent and live auctions. It was exciting to watch Chef Rocco Whalen raise $10,000 by donating two Fahrenheit food truck private parties during the live auction! This year, more than $260,000 was raised to fight hunger – that’s more than one million meals.
The Taste of the Browns event was also a great place to mingle with Cleveland Browns players and alumni. My husband and I were able to chat with past players such as Josh Cribbs, Kevin Mack and Hanford Dixon as well as currently players.
Christian Kirksey was down to earth and took time to chat about his love of football. My hubby was excited to snap a picture with him.
If you missed the event this year, definitely plan to attend next year. This event makes a great date night or evening out with friends. Best of all, the money that is raised for the Greater Cleveland Food Bank helps families all year. If you weren’t able to attend this event, you can still help the Greater Cleveland Food by donating online.
