Have you heard? Cedar Point opened this weekend! While it was a happy day for most, it was practically a national holiday for my family. All winter long we awaited the opening of our dear beloved (and second summer home), Cedar Point. In fact we love it so much we invest in season passes each summer!
As a frugal mama, I personally believe Cedar Point season passes are a wonderful investment and a wise choice for my family. Our Cedar Point season passes provide us endless fun for three seasons, from the warm spring days to the crisp fall evenings. Best of all, with our Cedar Point Platinum Passes we can get into all other Cedar Fair parks for free, included Kings Island in Cincinnati, Wild Water Kingdom in Aurora and Michigan’s Adventure just to name a few.
For its 146th season, Cedar Point debuted the floorless scream machine, Rougarou. Towering 14 stories above the Midway, The Rougarou flips it’s passengers upside down four times while traveling more than 60 mph. Thrill seekers will love that this is Cedar Point’s 17th roller coaster.
While the track may look the same as previous coaster Mantis, Rougarou has a whole new feel. My son and I rode this new coaster several times on Cedar Point Media Day and we both agreed that the Rougarou is a HUGE upgrade and completely different experience.
The interesting name Rougarou may have some scratching their heads. A Rougarou is similar to a werewolf or a Bigfoot and comes from French folklore. We enjoyed the growling that could be heard while walking by the new coaster which adds to the anticipation.
The previous entrance was torn down in November, and the Bon Air section demolished. Cedar Point was able to keep historic pieces, including a large Tiffany glass which now adorns the gorgeous new entrance.
While at the park, I was able to take a peek into the rooms and was blown away by the renovations. The rooms have a beach resort feel, with new carpeting and furniture in neutral tones. Bright red chairs are not only practical but also environmentally conscious as they are made with recycled Coca-Cola bottles.
I absolutely loved the brightly colored bedspreads and Cedar Point pictured headboards. The hotel rooms all offer free wi-fi internet access, iHome docking stations, and enough electrical outlets for your whole family.
My family will be staying at Hotel Breakers in June and I can’t wait to tell you more about it. Looking to book a stay? Keep in mind that hotel rates vary depending on the type of room and the time of the year. Rates for all the Cedar Point properies are listed on the Cedar Point website.
Disclosure: This is not a sponsored post. I was invited to Media Day to preview the new ride and to tour Hotel Breakers. All opinions are my own.
