Noon Year’s Eve celebrations at local libraries:
* Monday, December 31, 11:30 a.m. At Lorain Public Library System’s Main Library, 351 W. Sixth Street, Lorain, 440-244-1192, ext. 449. Families with children of all ages, join us as we welcome in the New Year early with Wii Sports, music, games, balloons, and a countdown and ball drop at NOON. Light refreshments will be served. Preschool children through 4th graders come and celebrate the arrival of 2013 at NOON instead of midnight! We will have stories, fun activities, a craft, a ball drop and refreshments. New Years Eve at Swings-N-Things in Avon: Open all day on Dec. 31st, but party is from 5pm to 8pm. Games, Prizes, Balloon drop, Countdown is promptly at 7pm. We will have party favors on a first come basis. Back by popular demand is the Minute to Win it games. Music and Face Painting, Balloon Animals as well.
First Night in Akron: First Night Akron is a family-friendly and alcohol-free event. Free parking is available in downtown Akron all evening long. Metro buses are available to take you to the First Night venues. Activities include: horse-drawn wagon rides, ice carving demonstration, mask making, fortune telling, dancing, performances by a juggler and a hypnotist, ice skating, numerous theatre productions and a Trivia Game Show. There will be a kids’ fireworks show at 9 p.m. and the FirstMerit Fireworks show at midnight at Lock 3. Admission buttons are $10 for ages 10 and up. Children under the age of 10 are FREE!
First Night in Youngstown: Provides the citizens of Youngstown and the region with a family friendly New Year’s Eve event that strives to build community and celebrate diversity through the arts. This family-friendly event is alcohol-free.
Noon Year’s Eve at Cleveland Metro Parks Zoo: Bring your pint-sized party animals to Cleveland Metroparks Zoo and let them dance till the break of noon! Kids of all ages can celebrate 2013’s arrival during daylight hours at the seventh annual Noon Year’s Eve party at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. The family-friendly event runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. December 31. The Noon Year’s Eve festivities include kid-friendly activities the whole family can enjoy. Watch a crew of charismatic critters in a special Noon Year’s Eve Wild Animal Show. Make New Year’s ReZOOlutions and an eco-friendly craft. Other activities include music, dancing an ice-carving demonstration, costumed characters and more.
Complimentary Shearer’s snacks and Honest kids beverages are offered (while supplies last). The Noon Year’s Eve celebration culminates at the stroke of noon with a traditional ball drop to welcome 2013. Noon Year’s Eve activities are FREE with Zoo admission.
Cleveland Children’s Museum: Monday, December 31 from 10a.m. – 2 p.m. This “Noon Day Party” includes DJ, dancing, and prizes. A countdown to the new year will take place at 11 a.m., Noon and 1 p.m. No reservations needed. Admission is $7 per person. For more info, call 216.791.KIDS.
