Cirque du Soleil CORTEO ~ Cleveland Review
My family has seen a lot of production in Cleveland but none of us had seen a Cirque du Soleil performance. After talking to multiple people about the show coming to Cleveland, I knew were were in for a treat!
My family and I attended Corteo, the latest Cirque Du Soleil arena production, last night at Quicken Loans Arena. As soon as we got to our seats, we couldn’t stop looking at the stage. The gorgeous set curtains, inspired by the Eiffel Tower made us shift in our seats in anticipation for the show to begin. The set truly set the tone for the poetry of CORTEO.

CORTEO, is a joyous procession, a festive parade imagined by a clown, who has pictured his own funeral taking place in a carnival atmosphere, watched over by caring angels. The show brings together the passion of the actor with the grace and power of the acrobat that plunges the audience into a theatrical world of fun, comedy and spontaneity situated in a mysterious space between heaven and earth.

There are many acts that will simply blow you away and keep you on the edge of your seat. One of my favorites was the acrobatic who performs with his ladder. His unnerving balance and finesse made us gasp as he desperately tired to reach the angel who is watching from above. We thought the beginning was great but when he switches the ladder for another one, you won’t believe your eyes.

The helium dance act delighted the crowd when the Mauro the clown and his little Clowness takes the stage. Balloons are filled and the Clowness floats away from the stage to the delight of the audience. If you are lucky enough you may be able to give her a little lift back to the stage.
