There is something that most of us women have in common – we tend to put ourselves last. In fact, often times we don’t even put ourselves on the list! Between working, taking care of kids or other family members, keeping up with the countless tasks that we all do, we rarely have time to think about ourselves.

Of course, most of us wouldn’t have it any other way but one thing I’m working on recently is taking time out for me. By running myself ragged, I’ve learned that I really only have a part of me left to give. For this reason, I try to make myself a priority and schedule things that are important to me such as reading, working out and just recently, getting a massage.

Lisa Mikulan invited me to her in-home studio for a relaxation massage a few weeks ago and I jumped at the chance. I used to get massages regularly but as my schedule got busier it was the one thing I unfortunately let go. Before we set up the appointment, I met with Lisa who was simply a sweetheart. This set me at ease right away.

On my first massage appointment, Lisa greeted me as I pulled into her driveway. She showed me the separate entrance into her massage studio which was clean, calm and peaceful. There was music playing and it smelled simply wonderful. Before the massage could begin. Lisa asked me a few questions and I filled out a few pieces of paperwork.

During our pre-massage conversation, Lisa explained that to ensure safety and to help focus on women’s particular needs, she only accepts women clientele. We also discussed any particular areas of concerns that I may have so that she could focus on them during my massage. I loved how thorough she was in assessing my needs.

Right before the massage began, Lisa stepped out of the room to give me time to undress. Keep in mind that you are welcome to keep on whatever underclothes you are comfortable with.  I found it easy to get situated on the heated table which was warm and comfy.

As soon as the massage began, my stress began to melt away. I could right away, that as a professional, Lisa really knew how to relax my tired muscles. My luxurious massage lasted 60 minutes but I felt like it could have gone on forever. I was completely relaxed.

Here are a few things to keep in mind. Lisa offers 1 hour full body relaxation massages (no prenatal, deep tissue, hot stone, geriatric, oncology, etc.). Before your first inital appointment, Lisa will go over your health history and assess if her services are permissible with any current health conditions.  Lisa shared that she has been licensed by the state of Ohio’s Medical Board since 2007. She has undergone an extensive background check and is properly trained.  Lastly, Lisa does have cats but they do not enter this room. Only if you have an extreme allergy should this be a problem.
