My boys have been looking forward to The Angry Birds Movie for months! With every commercial or movie poster that they saw, I’d hear an inevitable shout, “Mom, we have to see that!” As with most kiddie movies, I was skeptical, Would this be one I’d have to just suffer through?
Last weekend my family were able to see an advance screening of The Angry Birds Movie and it was a HIT! No, not just for my kiddos but also for my husband and I. Throughout the movie, we found ourselves laughing out loud and even pointing out the adult humor that clearly went over our kiddos heads.
The Angry Birds Movie not only has an easy to follow story line but a list of great characters. The one that really stole the movie was Chuck the yellow speedster. He had some of the best lines and scenes. Oh, and don’t miss the hilarious scene when they are looking for the Great Eagle! I wan’t expecting it at all and the whole audience was in a fit of giggles when he entered the scene. Seriously watch what you are drinking, you may spit it out with laughter!
While I’m not an Angry Birds game player, I do know enough about the game that watching it come alive on the big screen made it really fun to watch. I loved that they incorporated the slingshot and other items from the game into the movie. Since I’m not up to date on the Angry Birds game, my boys happily pointed out fun game features that were put in the movie. I think they kinda liked having inside knowledge that their parents didn’t have. Not a gamer either? No worries, having any game knowledge isn’t a prerequisite to understanding the movie.
No doubt this movie will do well at the box office and I’m pretty excited about that! I’m crossing my fingers (and my boys are too) that there will be another birds versus pigs adventure in the near future.
