UPDATED Walmart Online Price Match policy!
I was really happy to see that Walmart finally clarified their Online Price Match Policy! I was getting very frustrated that people were taking advantage of the penny prices on Amazon. I personally never thought that price matching the GIMMICK penny deals was right or the way that Walmart intended it when the policy was written up. Most people who see that price knows it’s just a gimmick and unfortunately went out and didn’t purchase one item but hundreds.
I absolutely think that not clarifying this sooner was a mistake on Walmart’s part but unfortunately I’m not invited to their business meetings…yet! If all of this confuses you, this was type of thing that people were price matching. What the picture below doesn’t show is that while this item is a penny it is also charging $15 to ship.
Here’s what Walmart had to say when they released the updated online price match policy.
Bentonville, Ark., November 19, 2014 – We launched online price matching because it’s the right thing for our customers. It’s making a meaningful difference for people who want to feel confident they’re getting the best price, and we’re committed to matching online prices going forward.
At the same time, we can’t tolerate fraud or attempts to trick our cashiers. This kind of activity is unfair to the millions of customers who count on us every day for honest value. With this in mind, we’ve updated our policy to clarify that we will match prices from Walmart.com and 30 major online retailers, but we won’t honor prices from marketplace vendors, third-party sellers, auction sites or sites requiring memberships. We will continue to listen to feedback from our customers and our cashiers to make sure our online price match policy is working. Customers with questions can read the updated policy by searching ‘online price match’ at Walmart.com.
I think the changes are exactly the right thing and will ensure that Online Price Matching is here to stay! What do you think?
